Director
Adrian graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1992. He spent 15 years working in general dental practice before embarking on his postgraduate studies commencing with the Faculty’s Postgraduate Diploma in Restorative Dentistry in 2007 completing same in 2010. He furthered enhanced his skills his by completing an MSc in Restorative Dentistry with Leeds University then undertaking the Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontic Practice at the Eastman Institute, UCL, which he passed with distinction in 2013.

John-Joe Hartigan BDS MJDF AKC MClinDent PGCertClinEd
Treasurer
John-Joe qualified from Queen’s University Belfast in 2006 and was awarded Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties by the Royal College of Surgeons (Eng) in 2011. He joined the FGDP (NI) board in 2012 and has been Treasurer since 2003.
John-Joe works in general dental practice in Belfast and in Downpatrick. John-Joe also works as a Clinical Tutor in restorative dentistry at the Centre For Dentistry, Queen’s University Belfast.
He completed a four year part-time postgraduate Master of Clinical Dentistry degree in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics in 2018 and was awarded a merit by King’s College London. John-Joe has also recently completed a postgraduate certificate in clinical education through Queen’s University Belfast.
Ciara Gallagher BDS MFGDP

Ciara graduated with honours from Birmingham University in 1996 and was awarded the Carlton Gold Medal as the most outstanding dental graduate of her year, having completed her MFGDP qualification she was admitted to the FGDP in 1998. Following a year as an SHO in Birmingham Dental Hospital she returned home to Northern Ireland. Ciara owns a seven surgery mixed NHS and private practice in Downpatrick. A board member for five years she has a keen interest in postgraduate education and has been a VT trainer on several occasions, receiving a national award for this role. Ciara is currently chair of the BDA Dental Practice Committee.

Pádraic graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2010. He achieved his MFDS qualification (RCPS Glasgow) in 2016, then attained the prestigious Diploma in Implant Dentistry, at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2021. He is an Associate Fellow of CGDent. Pádraic has a keen interest in postgraduate education, and has completed multiple postgraduate courses in the following areas: IV sedation, sinus grafting, bone and tissue regeneration, full-arch fixed implant prosthodontics, and contemporary cosmetic and restorative dentistry. Pádraic has also been a Foundation Dental trainer. He is the co-owner of an Independent practice in Portadown, and also works in referral practice.
Outside of dentistry, Pádraic enjoys cooking, hillwalking, and spending time with his wife, Karen and their three children.
Ross Livingston BDS MJDF

Ross Qualified from Glasgow University in 2010 and returned to Northern Ireland to complete his foundation training year, achieving his MJDF qualification at the same time. He has been an active member of the FGDPNI/CGDent board since 2013. He finds that being part of CGDent NI and helping to run the conference is an extremely rewarding experience which has introduced him to many new colleagues and friends. Ross works full time in Bangor in general practice, originally owned by his family, Ross took the practice reins in 2019 and carried out a complete refurbishment, it is now a modern 5 surgery practice which he owns and runs with his wife.

Conal Gormley BDS MJDF Dip Rest Dent RCS (Eng) MCGDent
Board Member
Conal graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2017. He completed his Vocational Training there in sunny Govan and worked in general practice in Scotland for a further 4 years. In this time he continued his further education gaining his membership exams with the joint faculties at the Royal College of Surgeons England in 2019.
This was made possible through the West of Scotland’s branch well organised study clubs. Since then he further developed his skillset through the RCS of England’s accredited post graduate Diploma in Restorative Dentistry until the tutelage of Prof Paul Tipton in Manchester in 2021.
He returned home with his wife Laura to private practice in County Meath accepting referrals for all forms of restorative cases with an interest in the shift towards digital dentistry. He joined the CGDent committee of Northern Ireland in 2022. More recently, Conal took over Andrew Johnston’s practice and became practice principal of one of the longest standing practices in Coleraine.
David Mann BDS MFGDP

David graduated from Queen’s University Belfast 2000 with Distinction in Restorative Dentistry and Dissertation and was awarded prizes for best orthodontic undergraduate and best dissertation. He completed his VT and worked in Aberdeen for several years before returning to Northern Ireland. He is one of the founding partners in Church Road Dental Care,a progressive and modern practice in Carryduff.
He completed his MJDF examination in 2010, Certificate in Restorative Dental Practice at Eastman Dental Institute in 2013 and is actively working towards FFGDP qualification.
A former VT trainer David is keen to pass on his knowledge to other colleagues and is currently the Regional Tutor for FGDP aiding colleagues in their preparation for the MJDF exam.
He is one of the founding partners in Church Road Dental Care, a progressive and modern practice in Carryduff.
Terri Haughey BDS MJDF

Terri qualified from Queen’s University Belfast in 2009 and following completion of VT has since remained as an associate dentist in general practice in Holywood, Co.Down.
Terri successfully completed her MJDF qualification in 2012 and since 2013 has been an active member of the FGDPNI board. Terri has also played a role in helping with the MJDF study club. Terri’s special interests include working with children and restorative dentistry.

Susan Nelson BDS MFGDP
Board Member and Past Divisional Director
Susan qualified with Honours from Edinburgh University in 1993 and was awarded the McGregor Gold Medal for the most distinguished dental student, the McHaffie prize for the best female graduate and the Hepburn prize for best senior dental student. Upon completion of Vocational training in Fife she returned to Northern Ireland and her current practice in Holywood where she is Principal dentist. She has a particular interest in Implant and restorative dentistry.
She has been an Honorary Clinical Assistant in the School of Dentistry supervising the dental students and has been involved with Vocational Training in Northern Ireland both as a Trainer and as Chair of the Committee for Vocational Training (N.I ) from 2006 to present.
Susan was appointed as an examiner of the MFGDP in 2002 and to the Core Group of MFGDP in Spring 2006 she continued to examine MFGDP until the merge of the two dental Faculty examinations in 2008.
Currently an active MJDF examiner and former Deputy OSCE she was appointed to the Core Group of MJDF as Deputy Lead of Part 1 in September 2014. Divisional board member since 1999 Susan held the post of Treasurer before being elected Divisional Director in 2006, serving in this role until January 2016.
